Cirque-and-symphony Christmas show coming to PPL Center, extending its busiest concert year

A Christmas show that combines theatrical circus performance with a live symphony orchestra is coming to Allentown’s PPL Center, it was announced Tuesday.

The announcement extends a recent flurry of bookings that has given the center its busiest concert year ever.

Cirque Musica presents Holiday Wishes will perform at 7 p.m. Dec. 10.

Tickets, at $29.75-$99.75, go on sale at 10 a.m. Friday, Aug. 2, at the PPL Center box office at 701 Hamilton St., at www.PPLCenter.com or at 610-347-TIXX.

The show will have a full cast of Cirque Musica -- acrobats, aerialists, clowns and more -- performing to favorite holiday songs by an orchestra.

PPL Center has had shows by Cirque du Soleil and other cirque troupes, but this will be the first time Cirque Musica has performed at the venue.

Cirque Musica is among the largest cirque companies in the world, with multiple productions on tour.

Cirque Musica presents Holiday Wishes gives PPL Center 14 concerts held or scheduled in 2019, plus the rock stage show “We Will Rock You” with the music of Queen. The previous high at the venue was 11 concerts in 2016.

In just the past eight days, PPL Center also has announced concerts by rockers Five Finger Death Punch and Three Days Grace on Dec. 3 and Latin trap music pioneer Anuel AA on Dec. 13.
